Thinking, elaborating, humor, GUESSing, and F=U=N are important in developing your INTERNATIONAL listening skills and LANGUAGE skills. 【学習内容】 Students are invited to ACTIVELY participate (386% participation) in the class, by: bringing an outgoing (‘gaikoteki’), positive mood to each class; by SMILING; by sitting beside two other students; by using ‘Western’ Body Language (i.e. please avoid 'crossed arms'; & avoid showing a 'poker face'); by talking a lot with MANY other students, every class; by using plenty of EYE CONTACT; by trying to developing a sense of HUMOR; by showing ‘Western’-style manners (e.g. covering your mouth when coughing/sneezing/yawning/etc.); by answering questions and explaining a LOT by using PENS (not pencils); by trying hard to learn and SHOW International ‘EQ’ [Emotional Intelligence]; by ALWAYS showing a large namecard on your desk; and by ''GOING FOR IT''! Listening-comprehension improvement will be the focus of this course, and we will keep the mood active by mixing it with CONVERSATION and DISCUSSION parts, as well. Let’s listen for words and phrases, AND also learn the MEANING and context of new vocabulary words, phrases, and English expressions. Please join us, to ‘Power up’ your listening abilities, listening COMPREHENSION, and English! 【学習方法】 Many English ‘cloze’ listening activities will be done (from English songs, videos, News reports, audiobooks, TV documentaries, etc.). Your listening abilities will improve by listening; by repetition; and by quickly making many educated GUESSES. Conversational and discussion elements will be included, to ensure that your listening abilities are better synchronized with your speaking skills. Most important is trying...and not giving up! ‘Power it up!’ [Gambatte!] Explanations by the teacher are given in English (and in a little Japanese, if needed). 【学習形態】 Your teacher would like to challenge you (inspire you) to ‘power up’ your listening abilities by using English songs, English News, English audiobooks, and English videos. Many ‘cloze’ exercise photocopies will be provided to students: blank spaces will be filled in by students.
