Thinking, elaborating, using HUMOR, guessing quickly, and FUN are important in developing your INTERNATIONAL World Music appreciation and English-listening/communicating skills.
【学習内容】
This is a ‘Western’ style class for truly MOTIVATED people who wish to better understand, discuss, & communicate in English about World music, in an INTERNATIONAL setting. English song-listening abilities will be improved by listening to many International genres of songs with English lyrics,. Discussion abilities can be improved by speaking with classmates and the teacher; by quickly saying your opinions on many topics, in English; and by ACTIVELY meeting lots of new people in class.
Please sit at the FRONT of the classroom; please sit beside two other GENKI students; please make lots of eye contact; SMILE actively; please show ‘Western'-style manners (e.g. cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze, or yawn); talk together a LOT, in a friendly way; please EXPLAIN your answers, in detail; use 'OPEN', ‘Western’ BODY Language (please avoid crossing arms, and avoid 'poker face'); please develop a healthy sense of HUMOR; try hard to learn and SHOW International ‘EQ’ [Emotional Intelligence]; it is advisable to use PEN (not pencil); and please always keep a LARGE namecard on your desk.
【学習方法】
Activity handout sheets will be mixed with many song-listening exercises (to improve listening skills); with discussion & conversation (to keep the mood INTERNATIONAL and OPEN-MINDED, and to practice grammar and speaking); and perhaps with some music videos, to keep the class STIMULATING and cross-cultural.
Explanations by the teacher are given in English (and a little Japanese, if needed).

Students are requested to ACTIVELY participate 284%; to QUICKLY answer questions (and to EXPLAIN their answers); to be open-minded about new and different INTERNATIONAL teaching and learning & music styles; to show a joyous sense of HUMOR; and to understand that ‘Wasei Eigo’ is NOT useful English. Conversation will assist all of us to actively discuss & ‘ENERGIZE', and to USE the new English terms/expressions that we learn. We are ALL a little bit shy. Let's actively COMBAT that shyness, day-by-day.

If students are MOTIVATED; come to every class; participate ACTIVELY; do all of the homework; and also do listening practice/study on their own, they can improve their English-listening & International communication skills.
