【2025年度春学期】 　This course will explore the ideas of six contemporary thinkers who have greatly impacted the way we think in the 21st century. These include Jared Diamond, Yuval Harari, Michael Sandel, David Attenborough, Yanis Varoufakis, and Fei-Fei Li. Their books received numerous awards, have been translated into many languages, and topped the best-seller lists in major newspapers and journals. Their thoughts range from human evolution, philosophy, art, the environment, economics, and our relationship with AI. The purpose of this course is to make the complex and intriguing ideas of these thinkers alive and accessible to us. In class, lectures and discussion will be primarily in English with some references and explanation in Japanese when necessary. We will generate lively discussion as to how these ideas are relevant to our daily life as working and private individuals seeking meaning in the 21st century. Exposure to these great works will impact the way we see the world and enrich our conversations with people around the world. ＜開講のねらい＞ 　This course aims to approach and understand great contemporary ideas in a language that is relevant and close to our daily life. We will emphasis sharing and discussion in English to bring out new possibilities in our communication skills about things that are interesting and meaningful to our life and work.
