This course introduces students to the central concepts and perspectives of sociology and globalization with special application to the everyday life of students as well as seeks to inform students of the significance of globalizing forces in understanding contemporary society.
It also aims to show how three major social forces - culture, structure, and social institutions influence human behavior, and how individuals, acting as a group, reproduce and transform these same social forces. This course will encourage students to look at themselves and global society in an objective way,thus developing in them the tools needed for critical thinking, as well as the ability to analyze globalization, its "contents and discontents" from a sociological perspective.
